Junk mail or not junk mail?

Junk mail or not junk mail?

Here’s a quick Memorial Day challenge for you. We recently received a suspicious notice in the mail regarding our domain name. What do you think? Is it junk?

The suspect mailing

So, is it junk?

This is a tricky one. It clearly shows one of our domain names (forgethree.com) and seems to indicate that we need to renew it by filling out the form. However, we use GoDaddy for our domain names, not Domain Registry of America. That’s clue #1.

The reality is that Domain Registry of America is trying to get us to leave GoDaddy in favor of them. But, instead of clearly saying that, they sneakily try to scare us into thinking that we’re losing our precious domain name.

So, besides being unethical, I would most certainly consider this junk mail.

The bottom line

If you get mail from an unknown company about your website or domain name, proceed with caution. If in doubt, give us a call and we’ll help figure it out.

Have you received mail like this? Did you think it was junk? Sound off in the comments.
